world heavyweight wrestling champion in 1929 and NMU Sports Hall of Famer.  He played on 1915-16 U.P. champion basketball and football teams at Marquette High, college football at NMU and Dartmouth where he was an All-American, and pro football with Portsmouth and Detroit.
