Ingrid Gallo - Class of 2018

A pioneer in women's sports and a champion golfer and skier, Ingrid Gallo won the 1973 Upper Peninsula Ladies Golf Association championship after finishing second in 1972. She played on the University of Minnesota women's golf team (1974-76), won the women's Big Ten title in 1974 and the Minnesota Invitational in 1974 and 1975. After spending four years on the Women's Professional Golf Tour and qualifying for the 1978 U.S. Open, she became a golf teacher and is among the top instructors in Minnesota. She earned four letters as a skier at Ironwood Luther L. Wright High School and won the U.P. slalom in 1972. She helped lead the fight for the University of Minnesota to establish the Patty Berg Scholarship for female athletes and the school later established a women's athletic department.
