Irv Dieterle - Class of 2003

One of just 13 high school basketball coaches in the state with more than 500 victories, Irv Dieterle became boys basketball coach at Ishpeming Westwood High School in 1976 and through the 2002- 03 season had compiled a career record of 543- 250, including 422- 191 in 27 seasons at Westwood.  He was 153-6 in eight seasons as the girls' junior varsity basketball coach.  He also was coach of the boys and girls golf teams at Westwood, winning four U.P.  girls titles and a total of 14 conference championships.  He also coached basketball at five other high schools.  He was selected to the Michigan High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000.
