Janet (Hallfrisch) Sbar - Class of 2026

Janet (Hallfrisch) Sbar, a 1977 graduate of Menominee High School, played every sport offered to women.  She earned All-State Honors in the Mile Relay, set records in discus, and was Track & Field MVP. She played #1 Singles in Tennis and Basketball her senior year and was named MHS Female Superstar Athlete of the Year.  She’s a 2022 inductee into the MHS Sports Hall of Fame. Janet attended the University of Michigan (BS 81’ MA 82’ with Honors).  She competed in discus, shot-put, and javelin, lettering on Michigan’s first Women’s Varsity Track Team, which was inducted into the UofM Women’s Track & Field Hall of Fame (2009). She won the Atlanta Track Club All-Comers Outstanding Women’s Athlete Award (1983), Atlanta Softball Championships (1985) and Soo Curling Championship (2024). Janet is a 5 Bar NRA Marksman and a 2-time Women’s Golf Champion at North Shore Golf Club. Janet worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Teacher, Coach, Track Official, and University Lecturer.
