Joe Johnson - Class of 2004

An accomplished performer In four athletic venues, Joe Johnson has coached Menominee High School to seven Upper Peninsula gymnastic titles.  A 12th place finisher in the NCAA gymnastic championships at Northern Michigan University, Johnson also placed 11th In the Central U.S.  ski jump meet.   Johnson has completed more than 100 marathon runs and completed eight 100-mile races.  He is one of just four to run in every Grandma's Marathon in Duluth.  He also consistently places in the top 10 in a variety of canoe races and is a two-time winner of the Master outrigger title In Hawaii and was a member of the nine-man team which won the 41-mile International outrigger title in Hawaii In 1985.  He won four national canoe championships since 1977.
