Romanus "Peaches" Nadolney - Class of 2003

An outstanding fullback and tackle for Ironwood High School in 1917, Romanus Nadolney was recruited to play football at Notre Dame by Knute Rockne, who received a tip from U.P.  Sports Hall of Fame inductee George Gipp.  He left Notre Dame in 1921 upon the death of his father, then played the 1922 season for the Green Bay Packers upon an invitation from Earl (Curly) Lambeau, his Notre Dame roommate.  He then played three seasons for the NFL's Milwaukee Badgers.
