Wesley "Wackey" Olson - Class of 2007

Inventor of the infamous "kick shot" circa 1936-37, Wesley "Wackey" Olson is the brother of UPSHF inductees Eddie and Weldon Olson. Wackey Olson was involved in the promotion and development of hockey at every level, as a player, coach, manager, league supervisor, referee and broadcaster, from his teens in the 1920s through the 1960s. He played with the Upper Peninsula Huskies in the Michigan Olympic Hockey Trials in 1932, then played with Haley A.C. in the Michigan-Ontario Hockey League. Olson, regarded as the best athlete among nine brothers, also played basketball at Marquette Pierce High School, played baseball in the U.P. semi-pro league and performed in Marquette Figure Skating Club ice shows.
